Strategic lines:
• Molecular mechanisms of apoptosis and other forms of cell death induced by glucose deprivation and ischaemia
• Metabolic vulnerabilities in sarcoma
• Tumour microenvironment in sarcoma and lung cancer
Current research topics:
Our lab is interested in the regulation of apoptosis by the glycolytic metabolism, and its aplication to cancer therapy. In particular, we are studying how inhibition of glycolysis triggers apoptosis and autophagy in tumors, and how inhibitors of glucose uptake sensitize tumor cells to chemotherapy. Moreover, we are studying the role of autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress in apoptosis and necrosis induced by glucose deprivation and ischemia.

Thanks for providing such a benefecial blog.
Hello Cristina,
Could you please share our most recent publication that details the outcome of our pre-clinical trial that tests mono-therapies and combinations therapies for ability to inhibit development of spontaneous breast cancer in a GEM model that is hyperactive for mTOR and cancer cell metabolism.
Thank you.
